El caçador de geometries

27 May

On May 27th, we celebrated the launch event of the 6th edition of Living Places — Simon Architecture Prize at La Casa de la Llum in Barcelona, within the framework of the Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026 programme. This edition also marks a special milestone: the 10-year anniversary of the prize. One of the highlights of the evening was the premiere of the official teaser for this new edition, created by audiovisual creator Matilda Vidal de Llobatera. In the previous edition of the prize, Matilda, together with Cierto Estudio and B67 Palomeras Arquitectes, received the recognition for Best Audiovisual Narrative for the video “Quinze Decibels – Consell de Cent Green Hub”. As part of this recognition, Matilda was invited to create the launch film for the 2026 edition, entitled “El Caçador de Geometries” (The Geometry Hunter). Through an atmospheric and evocative narrative, the piece follows the wandering gaze of a solitary observer who moves through the city searching for hidden geometries, fleeting alignments and unexpected spatial moments. The short film reflects on the poetic dimension of architecture and on the ways we perceive, inhabit and emotionally connect with spaces through movement, light and everyday experience. Following the screening, Matilda joined film programmer and cultural manager Sesi Bergeret in conversation to discuss architecture, cinema and the power of audiovisual narratives to communicate lived experience in contemporary architecture.
