general aspects

“It's like it's been here forever.”

Clear message. This building is designed to blend harmoniously into the surrounding space. Raw design. Simplicity and minimal detail are the characteristics of this Gdynia project.
Modernist street and modern building. The project, located in a district of Gdynia, was built on the site of a previous house. It was created from scratch using modern technology, matching the character of the street, but it looks as if it had been there forever. The investors wanted their house not to stand out from the surroundings.
The facility is located in the conservation protection zone of the seaside area in Gdynia. The building's form, proportions and colors match the neighboring buildings. This is the background architecture.
It has the form of two cuboids, like all the houses on this side of the street.

about the category

The architecture of the house is a minimalist form, treated like a sculpture carved out of unnecessary things.
What we can see outside is the color of the facade integrated with the color of natural concrete. Gutters and downspouts were hidden. The garage door and the exit were precisely fitted between the architectural concrete walls.
The proportions of the body and the arrangement of the original windows were preserved. However, a new idea has been added - modern, flush windows (glass walls), which are placed in such a way that the neighbors do not have access to the interior, in order to maintain the comfort of staying inside. The added glass walls also allow more light into the interior of the house. Thanks to this procedure, the sequence of events in the history of this architecture became visible.
The interior blends seamlessly with the exterior.
The house is simple, unobtrusive, fits into the existing surroundings, respecting the historical silhouette of the street.
