general aspects
A gently sloping terrain, abundant with pines and holm oaks and blanketed by a spring green mantle. The environment had its own identity and character, demanding respect and enhancement.
The idea was to preserve all the trees and alter the terrain as little as possible. Thus, the structure begins at the natural ground level, featuring a cable-stayed cantilever that offers privileged views of the pine forest, reminiscent of the pleasant picnics we had on what is now the terrace, so much so that hole in the terrace allows a pine trunk to pass through, integrating the house with nature.
The house was designed to be simple and pleasant, closed to the street and open to the landscape, blending seamlessly with the environment. It functions as a large porch, providing a sheltered space amidst nature. We opted for a mixed construction system. The cantilever prefab steel structure that does not touch the ground with the brick wall that will be covered with vines and jasmine, creating a rich, timeless architecture that evolves over time.
The garden enhances the existing pine forest with various maples and sweetgum, adding seasonal color changes and the fresh green of deciduous leaves. We also planted fig, lemon, and orange trees and built a pond in the lower part of the garden, where rainwater is collected, supporting water lilies and coves, and with a fine copper pipe allows the murmur of water to be heard from the terrace.
In this way, the essential was sought, architecture to be crucial while being the least
important part of the garden, a house that is a porch, a protected space from where
to enjoy the landscape.
