general aspects

Salvagnini Campus is an international training and research center, an industrial renewal project that draws energy and value from its environmental and social integration with the local territory.
A group of new transparent, solar buildings, open to the surrounding landscape and designed to maximize the quality of the company experience for workers and visitors.
A “lightweight”, digital design and construction method, combined with the use of traditional materials like steel, wood and glass, links the intervention to the concepts of resource saving, sustainability and future reversibility.
The building construction methods are based on the Industry 4.0 philosophy, a prefabricated structure aimed at saving resources in which every dry-assembled component comes from a digital production process: laser-cut sheet metal and tubular profiles, CNC-machined Xlam panels, and textile architectures. A modular construction method, designed to be reversible and recyclable at the end of its life.
The Campus is part of a broader design of Salvagnini's executive facilities, where new multi-story buildings reorganize the Company's lay-out, reducing covered surfaces in favor of more green areas.
It was built in accordance with a regeneration process, where new reversible buildings have replaced the existing industrial concrete sheds. Open spaces, planted with trees, have helped to mitigate their impact, reintegrating the facilities with the surrounding farmland and hills.
The new Campus energy-independent buildings are connected by walkways and visual axes within the large, unfenced public park.

about the category

Salvagnini Campus is a collective space centered on Industry 4.0 research.
The experience and well-being of visitors and users were the guiding elements of the project.
The visitors’ itinerary begins in the reception area, a waiting space with views of the landscape, and the trait d’union between the two main buildings: the Showroom and the Academy.
The reception leads into the Showroom, an authentic automatic factory prototype where the systems designed by Salvagnini work synergistically and flexibly, producing items by machining sheet metal.
The showroom interior is a large, silent and clean technological space filled with natural light, far from the conventional image of a metal machining workshop. Its structure is designed according to museum principles: flexible display layouts, spotlights and interchangeable textile backdrops.
From the reception area visitors can also access the “piazza” of the Academy building, a common working and meeting space extended to the outdoor.
Academy is an existing building, reorganized with the inclusion of multi-story structures that generate new functions and new people connections: classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, a bar and restaurant, as well as spaces for remote working.
Suspended on the collective area, connected by walkways, takes place the Theater: a space for company meetings and public entertainment open to the local community.
